An early morning walk in a rainforest is bound to leave your shoes wet. Warm air in these forests hold more water vapor that condense during mornings resulting in dew. A recent study at
the universities of Duke and James Cook revealed dew drops are beneficial not only in cleaning cicada wings, but other water-repellant, or superhydrophobic, surfaces as well. Dew drops ‘jump’ by themselves on such surfaces, carrying away contaminants.
